What Happens to Your Wedding Photos After We Leave?

The dance floor is packed.

Shoes have been abandoned.

Someone's tie is around their forehead.

We take our final photographs, hug you goodbye and disappear into the night carrying approximately one million dollars' worth of emotional responsibility on several tiny memory cards.

Okay.

Slight exaggeration.

But only slightly.

So what actually happens to your wedding photographs between the moment we leave your wedding and the moment this glorious email appears:

YOUR WEDDING GALLERY IS READY.

Quite a lot, actually.

Come behind the scenes with us.

First: Your Photos Get Backed Up

Before anything pretty happens, we get very boring and very responsible.

Your wedding photographs are backed up.

And because there are two of us photographing your wedding, we're dealing with photographs from multiple cameras and multiple memory cards.

Those images need to be safely copied, organized and protected before we start working on them.

Nobody gets creative until the precious cargo is safe.

Then We Put Everything in Order

One of the benefits of having two photographers is that we're often photographing the same moment from completely different places.

While one of us is photographing you walking down the aisle, the other might be photographing your partner's reaction.

While one photographs the speeches, the other might catch your mom quietly losing it at the next table.

Those photographs all need to come together into one chronological story.

We synchronize our cameras so the images from both photographers fall into the correct order.

Suddenly two perspectives become one wedding day.

And this is where things start getting good.

Then Comes the Cull

Culling is photographer language for:

Choosing the photographs that actually belong in your gallery.

On a wedding day, we take a LOT of photographs.

Some are duplicates.

Some are test shots.

Somebody blinked.

Somebody walked directly in front of the camera.

Sometimes we photograph the same moment several times because we're waiting for the exact expression that makes the photograph.

Our job isn't to dump thousands of files into your inbox and wish you luck.

We go through them.

One. By. One.

We choose the strongest photographs while making sure the entire story of your wedding is represented.

Then We Edit

This is where your photographs start looking unmistakably Cedar & Cove.

We work through your gallery adjusting things like:

Exposure.

Colour.

White balance.

Contrast.

Cropping.

Skin tones.

And the overall consistency of the gallery.

Our editing style is light, natural and true to the feeling of your day.

We don't want you looking at your wedding photographs in twenty years thinking:

"Ah yes. The Great Orange Skin Trend of 2026."

We want them to still feel beautiful.

But Editing Isn't About Making Everything Perfect

This is important.

We don't want your wedding to look like it happened inside a computer.

We want it to look like your wedding.

The wind happened.

The laughter happened.

Your veil had opinions.

Your flower girl may have completely abandoned her responsibilities.

That's life.

Those are often the things that make photographs feel real.

Two Photographers. One Gallery.

This is one of our favourite parts of working together.

We're not trying to create two separate versions of your wedding.

We're creating one story.

Brandie might catch something Rhonda didn't see.

Rhonda might photograph a reaction while Brandie is focused on the main moment.

One of us can stay with you while the other photographs your partner.

One can photograph the obvious moment.

The other can watch for everything happening around it.

Then during the editing process, those perspectives come together.

That's the magic of having two photographers.

You don't just get more photographs.

You get more of the story.

Then We Do One More Pass

Once everything is edited, we go through it again.

Because apparently looking at several thousand photographs wasn't enough.

We check for consistency.

We look at how the gallery flows.

We make sure the story feels complete.

And we inevitably rediscover photographs that make us laugh, cry or immediately text each other:

"LOOK AT THIS ONE."

Then Comes the Best Part

Your photographs get uploaded into your gallery.

Everything gets organized.

We check it.

Probably check it again.

And then…

SEND.

Somewhere, your inbox gets a very exciting email.

And somewhere else, two photographers are wondering which photograph you're going to love the most.

And Then They're Yours

This is the point where the photographs stop being something we're working on and start becoming part of your life.

They become prints on your walls.

Your phone background.

Your parents' Christmas presents.

Your anniversary posts.

The photograph your kids someday point at and say:

"Wait. That's YOU?!"

That's the part we love.

Because photographing a wedding isn't really about creating beautiful pictures for Instagram.

It's about giving you something that becomes more valuable as time passes.

And we're pretty freaking lucky that we get to do that together.
